Peer Review Process

Articles submitted for publication in the journal BOGOSLOV undergo a peer-review process. The journal adheres to a blind peer-review process, whereby reviewers are not aware of the author’s identity, and the author is not aware of the reviewers’ identities.



Reviewers are specialists in the subject matter of the reviewed material who have published in the same or a related field within the last three years. In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, reviews are retained by the journal’s editorial office for at least five years and are provided to the Ministry upon request.

To avoid conflicts of interest, scholars who are not affiliated with the same institution as the author. If necessary, the editor may engage additional reviewers.

The review is provided in writing and contains a clear recommendation as to whether the article should be published.

The review evaluates:

 

  • the degree of originality of the work and the nature of borrowed material;
  • the relevance of the research;
  • the research methodology;
  • the extent to which the stated topic is covered;
  • the quality of the conclusions;
  • the novelty of the research.

The reviewer is expected to identify instances of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and other unethical data manipulation. The reviewer is prohibited from using information obtained from the reviewed work for personal purposes prior to its publication.

Reviews are sent to the author for consideration and, if necessary, for revision of the article.

The decision to publish an article on the basis of the review is made by the journal’s editorial board.
